oral screeningIt is important that you tell your dentist if you notice any changes in your mouth or throat.
Nearly 25 percent of men and women with oral cancer have no risk factors, so mouth cancer screening is an important part of your regular dental check-ups. In most instances, early detection will result in successful treatment.
During a mouth cancer examination your dentist, who is trained to spot any early signs, will check your mouth and lips for abnormal sores or tissue appearance. If anything unusual is observed, we will refer to a hospital specialist for advice and assessment.
Please report lumps, sores and other mouth problems to your dentist immediately. When caught in the early stages, mouth cancer can be treated early.
At Chrisp Street Dental Centre, we routinely provide mouth cancer screening at all examination appointments and therefore recommend attending regularly to maintain good oral health.
